I wanted to make a clock for someone leaving work. They liked comics and I settled on the idea of making a clock based on The Hulk. The result was really popular and when it came to making a present for my niece loves the Avengers I decided to make another Hulk, the clock turned out well:
I found I had a little spare time before her birthday and knew that she really liked Thor so I found an image, wondered if it would work as it was more lifelike than the cartoony look of The Hulk and set out to make it, here is the result:
I finished this off as wall art with a hanger on the back although it would also work as a clock given the width of the image.
By now I was enjoying the challenge and wondered if I could complete the set with the main characters from the Avengers Assemble film. For those of you who know you Marvel I'm sure I wont need to say these are Captain America:
And Iron Man:
I was really happy with the finished results as was my niece who had them up on the wall of her bedroom within the week. A final picture to finish this entry, Avengers Assemble:
Vinyl Record Art and Clocks

Curious Norwich Terrier
Those of you who are lucky enough to know a Norwich Terrier will recognise this pose as they cock their head to one side any give you that curious look.
I was keen to make a new Norwich Terrier as it was the first design I made (you will find it is the first post on my blog if you go back through the "Older Posts" link at the bottom of the page).
Here it is shown as wall art but it can also be easily made as a clock.

Flying ducks
My Mum asked me, only half seriously, if I could make her some flying ducks. Those of you who remember Hilda Ogden from Coronation Street will recognise these. Whilst not anatomically correct they are an accurate reproduction in vinyl of those well known wall decorations.
I made these as art rather than clocks with the velcro picture hanging strips on the back. Mum has them on the wall of her dinning room flying in the classic Hilda formation.
And here are the ducks flying in formation on my Mum's wall:
If you would like the set get in touch and I will work out the price.

Sitting Cesky Terrier
It's been a while since I added a new post here. I am still making my record clocks and have some posts I will add here. I have been focusing on woodwork recently and will set up a blog to show the things I have made but for now here are some clocks I have made since April.
This is a second Cesky Terrier design. They are a great dog, full of character and I wanted to try a new design to my original standing Cesky design.

Electric Guitar
This is a commission for the husband of someone I work with. He loves vinyl records and bands using electric guitars so his wife has asked for this as a present, we are sure he will like it.
Unlike me clocks to date which use the center hole of the record for the clock's spindle I had to rethink this design. The guitar was to long to center the body of the guitar around the hole so I cut my own and was able to fit the guitar across the width of the record. The tuning pegs were hard to cut!

English Springer Spaniel
After a rather "oops" moment where I proudly showed off my Setter clock saying that I had made a Springer I quickly spotted and made up for my mistake. Here is the result.
It's probably worth pointing out that I can make the dogs either with undocked or docked tails.

English setter
It took time to work out how the image of the English Setter would fit onto the clock and still cover the mechanism. Sheree Parrish who made the request helped out and here is the result.

Glen of Imaal Terrier
Another breed I hadn't seen before so I was lead by the person requesting these on the design. We couldn't choose which we liked the most so I made both.
There be dragons
I love dragons so it came as a shock when I realised after having made so many designs that I had never tried to make one. My first was a real challenge due to the thin horns and tail, maybe not one I want to repeat. He's also to thin to hide a clock mechanism so definitely wall art.
If you would like a dragon then I'd feel more confident at repeating this design. It's also wider in the body so works as a clock and wall art.

Bichon Frise
Another request, this time for a Bichon Frise, not a breed I know but the owner of the clock is very happy with the result.
If you would like to know if I can make a clock in your breed (or any other design) just get in touch.

Love heart
I made this as a prize for a Valentine's Day competition. A love heart, the ideal gift for a loved one.
A special request
I was offered a collection of records by someone I know and I suggested I make them a clock in return. Their favorite song and record is Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks. So I nervously agreed to create their chosen sun design out of the record. It turned out well although to some it looks more like a flower, to others a circular saw blade, a versatile clock!
New Year creations
I decided to try out a few different designs in the new year and these were the results. All work well as wall art or clocks.
Teapot - a perfect gift for those who like their tea and music the old fashioned way.
Bunny rabbit - maybe I should make a carrot clock for him?
Elegant boot - a great gift for someone who likes their shoe collection.
Umbrella - I'm not sure why I cut this with the label this way up, I can easily make it the right way around as well!

Butterfly wall art
This is an unusual one for me to make as it doesn't work as a clock. The body of the butterfly is to narrow to hide the mechanism. But it work well as wall art, creating a shadow look of a butterfly.
Wesite (West Highland White Terrier) clock
Westie's have such a strong character in the their looks and I hope I captured it well in this little chap.

Angel fish and wall art
Janie loves Angel fish, we have 4 in our tank and she suggested I make 1 as a clock to go over our tank. They have a really recognisable profile and the clock turned out really well.
So well that Janie suggested I make some more to go with it. I made another the same size and then 2 smaller. These introduced a new concept as by now we had to many clocks around the house! Wall art:
These are held up with a clever Velcro type hook (a picture hanging strip) with removable glue:
This opens a whole new way of displaying my vinyl art work. If you would like any of the shapes shown as clocks without the clock mechanism then this is a great alternative as you can still hang the records up.

Trout clock
A perfect present for the fisherman in your life. I made this trout clock for my uncle and he loved it.
Scotty Dog
I was happy to get a request for a Scottish Terrier. I think they have a lot of character in their look and was happy that I seemed to capture that in my clock.
Sitting Cat Clock
I'd been neglecting all the lovers of feline's up to now so I thought that it was time to have a try at a cat. I've not had requests for cats so far but remember I'm happy to base these on photos if you have a good profile picture of your own cat.
Time to celebrate
A great clock to celebrate a special occasion, my champagne/wine bottle clock. The strait lines on this are difficult but the result is worth it.
Dachshund clock
I've had 2 requests so far for Dachshund clocks, one traveled all the way to Belgium. My clocks travel well and I include postage insurance so if you are thinking of ordering there's no need to worry about the posting.

Dandie Dinmont
My Dandie Dinmont clock was made for a request. These are great looking dogs with a nice shape although I needed to work on the sizing to make sure parts didn't overhang the edge of the record.
Chicken clock
And the 2nd present was for our sister Sue who keeps chickens. I was happy again with how this one turned out, the new design needed some thought to get all the lines right but it worked well.
Elephant clock
I wanted to make a non-dog clock and with Christmas rapidly approaching Janie and I decided on some ideas for presents. The first was an elephant, a little more tricky with trunk and tail but I was really happy with the result as was our sister Carol who this was made for.
Sitting Cesky clock
The Cesky Terrier has a great profile and really works well in silhouette so I decided to make a 2nd design, a sitting Cesky Terrier. I think this one really captures the look right. It was also the first design that I based it on a photo of a dog rather than a drawn image.
Norfolk Terrier clock
The next clock completed my original set of 3 as our own family is made up of a Norwich, Cesky and Norfolk Terrier (Kayper, Welly and Chloe). After some editing of my design which had a few to many "bumps" this was the final clock.
Cesky Terrier clock
Hot on the heels of my first came my second, my Cesky Terrier clock. This proved popular and people began asking if they could have one as well. The answer was yes, I was already hooked on making these.
The begining of my vinyl records - Norwich terrier
In 2013 I had a flash of inspiration from the internet and
had a go at carving an old vinyl record up with my Dremel rotary tool. Things took
off when I made my first dog clock, my Mum put up a picture on Facebook and the
requests for different breeds began. Here is that first clock.
